Wall Profile 2: Sloping ground in front, flat ground behind. Reduced soil at base to resist sliding. Foundation and toe depth increased.

Sloping ground in front of wall and flat ground behind wall. With Building or Vehicle Surcharge. Reduced soil at base of wall to resist sliding. Increased loads on wall.

Wall Profile 3. Flat ground in front, sloping behind. Additional load from soil. Stronger wall needed. Increased foundation depth.

Profile 3A : Flat ground in front, steep batter behind. Consider wall strength and local regulations.

Sloping ground in front & behind. Increased Loads. Stronger wall required. Increase toe depth.

Terraced Walls: complicated, high-risk retaining walls where the lower wall is subjected to extreme loads and must be designed to take the added loads from the upper wall.
